Apple Tree Rings

Children will need help from an adult! Don't forget to drink water while you hike.

Yield: 4 servings

Serving Size: 1/2 apple

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Stand Time: 24 hours

Ingredients:

  • 2 of your favorite apples
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • 4 parts water

Equipment:

  • Knife
  • String
  • Bowl
  • Zip-top bags

Directions:

  1. Wash, peel, and core apples.
  2. Slice apples into rings 1/8” thick.
  3. Mix lemon juice and water in bowl.
  4. Dip apple slices into lemon juice and water mixture.
  5. String rings on string.
  6. Let fruit air until fully dry (about 24 hours).

To Serve:

  • Pack individual serving sizes in zip-top bags.

Fun Fact: Apple varieties range in size from a little larger than a cherry to as large as a grapefruit. There are over 2,500 types of apples grown in the USA.
