Peanut Butter Pockets

Children will need help from an adult! Don't forget to drink water while you hike.

Yield: 4 servings

Serving Size: ½ pita

Prep Time: 10 minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 ea. 6" whole wheat pitas
  • 6 Tbsp peanut butter
  • 8 Tbsp apple butter
  • 1 banana (sliced)

Equipment:

  • Knife
  • Zip-top bags

Directions:

  1. Cut each pita in half.
  2. Spread 1-1/2 Tbsp peanut butter inside half of each pita pocket piece.
  3. Spread 2 Tbsp apple butter inside the half of each pita pocket piece where peanut butter has not yet been spread.
  4. Put 5–7 slices of banana inside each pocket.

To Serve:
Place each pita into a zip-top
bag.

Fun Fact: The peanut isn’t actually a nut. It’s a legume and a member of the pea family.
